Merrydale Day Nursery & Pre-school held a celebration – ‘Merryfest’ - to mark 30 years of providing childcare to the local community and invited its previous, current and new families to join them.
Nursery manager Katie Beckingham said: “We’re so pleased to be able to host ‘Merryfest’ and have a chance to celebrate the nursery with some fun and games for our families.”
The nursery team organised garden games, face painting, a coconut shy which was a big hit (!), and the farm experience on site was a particular highlight with the visiting families. The children loved meeting the animals and all seemed to have their favourites – even the tortoise got lots of attention! One parent commented “Thank you so much [Merrydale] for arranging it. It was nice to see people from the past and catch up”.
The children really enjoyed the old-fashioned games – giant jenga, noughts and crosses and hook-a-duck. The entrance to Merryfest was through the nursery so many parents were able to have a quick look around and see what they have been missing over the pandemic. Head of Nursery Operations Jacqui Szrejder said: “I am thrilled to see such a great turnout in support of the nursery, it is especially nice to see previous families whose children have left for school taking part – they still have fond memories of Merrydale.”
Merrydale Day Nursery & Pre-School is conveniently located at Amen Corner in Wokingham, on London Road, near to the Coppid Beech hotel and the A329. The nursery has served hundreds of local families over the years, and benefits from its own car park, friendly experienced team and a large garden. The nursery’s purpose-built pre-school building was opened in September 2020.
